WITH THE BEATLES - PCS 3045 TUBE CUT UK.
First pressing YEX 110/111-1
At some point in the late 60's they changed equipment at Abbey Road (and everywhere else?) from tube-driven to solid state gear, prior to the recording of the Abbey Road album. Any albums made before that change are thus called "tube cuts." The -2/-2 Sgt Pepper was cut after the change to solid state gear, so the -1/-1 is the only "tube cut" of the stereo Pepper.
There are indeed sonic differences between a valved board (Tube Cut) & a circuit board (Solid State). However, considering all the elements that make up the "sound" of a recording... whew... that's impossible to say "which ones [version] better".Mastering & mastering for vinyl cutting would play much more important/apparent reasons for sonic 'richness', that's why this title is so essential. Most of the vinyl needle drops presented here are from the Original UK 2/1 Pressing cuts
