Led Zeppelin (5/Cd) A Quiet Before The Storm
The Day On The Green, Alameda County Coliseum, Oakland, California, USA 23rd July 1977

Includes two existing audience recording sources that recorded the first day of the Auckland performance that took place on July 23, 1977 for two days. There is “It’s Been Great” in the already-released version of “Source 1” (recording time: 2 hours 47 minutes) on discs 1 to 3, but the image of sound quality is quite different, and this version is more than the existing version. It features a direct grainy sound. There is a cut at 5:59 in No Quarter as well as the previous one, but the restart part is slightly more (about 0.5 seconds) in the main board. Disc 2 records the cheers from Going To California at 4:57, about 10 seconds longer than the previous one. On Disc 3, the cheers after the 11:17 cut of Stairway To Heaven are recorded about 1 second longer on the existing version, but the cheers on the latter half of Black Dog are recorded more than 1 minute longer on the main version. With that said, it is clear that both boards used different dubbing tapes from the master, even though they had the same sound source. Although the sound quality is not the best, it records the whole picture of the show with stable and good sound quality without distortion or turbidity, and the musical sounds are recorded with a rich sense of separation, so it is not difficult to hear. There are few cut points as a whole, and you can enjoy the live performance at the end of 1977 without stress.

“Source 2” (recording time: 2 hours 16 minutes) recorded on Discs 4 & 5 has cuts at the beginning and between songs. However, it is recorded with sound quality that is incomparably better than the existing board “Confusion” that has undergone fade-in processing at all cut points, and in addition to improving the sound quality, it has been forcibly cut in the existing board. In addition, this board, which allows you to listen to everything contained in the original tape, has the meaning of the definitive edition of this source. This “Source 2” is rich in bass sounds and is superior to “Source 1” in terms of sound quality.

As you know, the performance is not an item that recorded a good stage because mistakes are conspicuous overall, but it is a valuable sound source that you can hear the situation of the band at the end of the 1977 US tour from the sound. It is a record. A 5-disc press CD set has arrived from overseas.
